WS Packaging Group Attains Patent For Second Extended Text Label

WS Packaging Group has been granted a patent by the US Patent Office for its FlexWrap extended text label, which belongs to the company's MultiVision extended text label portfolio.

WS Packaging said that FlexWrap labels can be used for different applications, including glass vaccine vials, completely conformable squeeze tubes and any small-diameter structure such as barrel containers forbrushes or lip balms. The company noted that, with the addition of the FlexWrap patent, it will now have two extended text label designs, which are engineered for small-diameter packaging and plastic tubes.

The materials of the labels, WS Packaging claimed, are completely water-resistant, and that the label has a print area that can harbor regulatory compliance, consumer education, multiple languages, health and safety warnings, and pharmaceutical labeling requirements.

FlexWrap labels comprise a base label with a diameter of the package and a hinged top ply. The hinge is made during machine application that, the company says, is two-thirds faster than a continuous wrap label. The base label and top ply could be a blend of materials, but most of the applications involve a clear base with a white top ply.

Paulette Carnes-Gramse, product development manager of MultiVision, said: “FlexWrap labels deliver a large print area in a very small footprint to help brand owners meet consumer education and regulatory compliance without the need for additional packaging.

“They also offer a sustainable solution by making it possible to eliminate unit cartons because all product and consumer information can be incorporated into the label.”
