SICK introduces code reader for track-and-trace applications

SICK, a Germany-based producer of sensors and sensor solutions for industrial applications, has introduced Lector 620, a code reader for track and tracer applications that improves decoding performance and thus timely detection and elimination of reading problems.

SICK said that the Lector 620 series offers real-time decoding of all images captured with a frequency of 60 Hz.

Lector 620 can be used for counterfeit detection, code identification on packaging for traceability of serial number and date code.

SICK claims that Lector 620 is two thirds smaller than other 2D code readers and offers quick analysis of read rate performance and code quality allows for efficient control.

Lector 620 is fast enough for the speeds at which pharmaceutical packaging lines operate, SecuringPharma.com reported.

In addition to the laser-based alignment assistance, the features ensuring this result are parameterisation at the push of a button and an LED-display on the device.

SecuringPharma.com quoted SICK spokesperson as saying that this improves decoding performance and thus timely detection and elimination of reading problems.

"The reader also features some additional features designed to make it easier to install, including a laser-alignment system that makes it easier for technicians to mount it in the correct position, and reposition it in the event of line maintenance," the spokesperson said.
