PDR Network, The Doctors Company partner for REMS CME programs

PDR Network, a distributor of FDA-approved drug information including drug alerts and risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) program alerts, has partnered with The Doctors Company, a professional medical liability carrier, to provide physicians with continuing medical education (CME) credits for completion of REMS CME programs.

As part of the partnership, PDR Network will work with The Doctors Company to facilitate the integration of CME into REMS programs, independently evaluating the clinical, patient-safety-focused information that is incorporated into the programs and creating CME questions pursuant to this information.

PDR Network will operate the service which hosts the CME programs, and collaborate with The Doctors Company and other partners to distribute these programs to physicians electronically and at no cost, via PDR.net.

The Doctors Company medical director David Troxel said that full, up-to-date FDA-approved drug labeling, including REMS programs, represents important information for busy prescribers. They are very pleased to work with PDR Network in the creation of independent CME that can be integrated into REMS programs, thereby increasing both their value to prescribers and the likelihood that prescribers will participate in these programs.

PDR Network chief medical officer Christine Cote said that their independent analysis of clinical information in REMS programs and creation of related CME questions offer tangible value to busy clinicians.

PDR Network is a distributor of drug labeling information, including Physicians’ Desk Reference (PDR), PDR.net, mobilePDR and Health Care Notification Network (HCNN), which provides specialty-specific electronic delivery of FDA-approved safety Alerts to physicians. HCNN is governed by the not-for-profit iHealth Alliance.

Founded by doctors for doctors in 1976, The Doctors Company is a national insurer of physician and surgeon medical liability with 55,000 member physicians, $3bn in assets.
