Catalent Pharma Names New President For Packaging Services Segment

Catalent Pharma Solutions has appointed Barry Russell as group president of commercial packaging, effective May 1, 2010. Mr Russell will have full responsibility for packaging services segment, including leading more than 2,200 employees at nine pharmaceutical packaging and printing facilities in both North America and Europe.

Mr Russell will report to John Chiminski, president and CEO of Catalent, and will be based in Catalent’s Philadelphia packaging facility. David Heyens, the current incumbent, will simultaneously step down from the role.

Catalent Pharma said that Mr Russell comes to it with more than 25 years of operational, marketing, and engineering experience. He most recently served as an operating vice president for Ferro Corporation, where he had full responsibility for the global Electronic Materials Systems business.

Before that, Mr Russell spent six years at Honeywell International, in a variety of leadership and marketing roles. Mr Russell also held prior leadership, marketing, operational, and engineering positions with Matson-CFM Technologies, FMC Corporation, and Eveready Battery Corporation.

Mr Chiminski said: “We are pleased to have Barry join the Catalent executive team. He brings experience and proven expertise in driving both operational and commercial excellence, which precisely aligns with Catalent’s approach. I also want to thank Dave for his many contributions during his fifteen years of outstanding service. We will benefit from and build upon his legacy.”
